This week in the Feed – Crafts & Cranks if finally here, some much-needed maintenance in the Park, and Blue Line construction is complete.

Our Trail Crew has been busy rebuilding berms, shaping jump lips, and knocking down chatter bumps each morning before the Park opens in order to keep our core trails in top condition without having to close them during riding hours. You’ll no doubt notice the difference on your next ride.

Since the Pro Line was put in, the Skill Builder Park has been buzzing with high-flying activity. This week the Crew finished construction on a scaled down version of the Pro Line – the Blue Line – designed to help intermediate riders improve their skills and get a feel for the elements in the more advanced Pro Line.

Make plans to be here this weekend for Crafts & Cranks, our annual bike and brew fest, featuring 40 beers on tap, live music, and $40,000 in prize money. The fun kicks off on Friday with stage one of the Endro race and Pump Track and Pro Line qualifying and continues through Sunday. Click here to register online, or come enjoy samples for 20 SoCal breweries and family-friendly fun like carnival rides, face painting, and our Basecamp activities (climbing wall, zip line, Eurobungy, QUICKjump).
Admission to the Summit base area is free and includes live performances by The Curly Wolf, Buck-O-Nine, Unwritten Law, and more, so grab your tasting and activity tickets today and we’ll see you on the dirt …
  • Red Bull Movie Premiere at Crafts & Cranks

    by Franchesca Nguyen | Jul 19, 2017
Join us Saturday, July 22, at 8:15 p.m. in the Snow Summit base area for the screening of Blood Road presented by Red Bull. Admission is free with concessions available at Bighorn Smokehouse. Seating available on first-come, first-served basis. Folding camping chairs and blankets are permitted. Outside food and beverages are not allowed.

Blood Road follows the journey of ultra-endurance mountain bike athlete Rebecca Rusch and her Vietnamese riding partner, Huyen Nguyen, as they pedal 1,200 miles along the infamous Ho Chi Minh Trail through the dense jungles of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. Their goal: to reach the site where Rebecca’s father, a U.S. Air Force pilot, was shot down in Laos more than 40 years earlier. During this poignant voyage of self discovery, the women push their bodies to the limit, while learning more about the historic ‘Blood Road’ and how the Vietnam War shaped their lives in different ways.

This week the Pro Line is ready to ride for anyone brave enough to send it while the Blue and Green lines are taking shape. We also have a couple events this weekend; Summit Series #2 (Pump Track) and a FOX women’s session with pro riders Claire Buchar and Katrina Strand.

If you've been up the past couple weeks you’ve no doubt seen the Pro Line progress from the chair, and this weekend you can finally give it a spin. This year’s Pro Line features a container drop-in and epic gap jump, which gives the Skill Builder Park a whole new look and feel. This week the Crew will also work on finishing the Green and Blue Lines to complete our base area Skill Builder features.

The Pump Track competition goes down on Saturday, July 8, with registration in the base area and races from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. We'll be racing on our new mirrored Pump Track – located on the east end of the base area, between Chairs 4 and 10 – with the winning female and top three male riders qualifying for the Crafts & Cranks competition on July 22 in addition to taking home a Bike Park season pass. For more information, click here.

The women’s sessions (July 8-9) are free for the first 20 female riders who sign up before 9 a.m. each day and will feature How-To demos and a Q&A session with Claire and Katrina, with participants receiving discounted lift tickets and prize giveaways.

It looks like we may see a shower or two late this week, so make tracks for the mountain. We'll see you on the dirt...

    2017 Gravity Feed Hero 600x400

This week our Trail Crew’s primary focus is on building out more base area fun.

Come enjoy the Park, now open daily, and check out the progress on the mirrored Pump Track and Pro Line in the Skill Builder Park. Things are taking shape, with the Crew moving dirt, placing containers, and setting up scaffolding as quickly as possible.

Got some hikers in your group? The Log Chute hiking trail got a little love this week, which means the 1.5 mile, hiking only trail will be in great shape for the weekend.

Next week will see the return of the Mulch Jump and addition of new features to the Skill Builder Park. Later this summer, we'll be adding to our Adopt-A-Trail program with the National Forest Service.

Plans are in place to revamp a bike trail called Dickey's – not to be confused with our ski trail. The trail, which is named after Summit founder Dick Kuhn, who helped develop and rode the trail back in the day, will be accessed from our Mountain Top Trailhead and drop riders onto Going Green to return to Basecamp.

Stay tuned to Gravity Feed for updates on this and other projects in the Park this summer. We'll see you on the dirt ...

    2017 Gravity Feed Hero 600x400

Our Trail Crew continues to tackle projects across the Park, with Turtle Trail getting a touch up, and the Pro Line and the dual Pump Track under construction.

Basecamp will be buzzing soon with the return of the Pro Line to the Skill Builder Park. The Crew has designed four new jumps for this line, including two mulch jumps and two jumps for the line itself.

Last week a lot of young riders were on the new Junior Pump Track. This weekend our Crankworks-style Pump Track for more advanced riders will be under construction, with a mirrored layout so riders can compete head-to-head. Located by the drive of Chair 4, the new track hosts our second Summit Series event on July 8. Don't miss it.

On the hill, the guys are re-building, sweeping, and replacing pavers on Turtle Trail. With over 50 berms from top to bottom, the trail must essentially be re-built every year due to its location.

On the flip-side, our beginner trail – Going Green – spent the winter under a blanket of snow so it feels like a well-seasoned trail, even though it’s only one season old. Come ride it and see.

Check back with us next week for an update on our Adopt-A-Trail program and the Skill Builder Park. Until then, we'll see you on the dirt...

Summit Series Saturday- Get Registration details here.
Welcome back to your weekly Gravity Feed where you'll find all of the very latest on what's happening at the Summit Bike Park.

The word on the dirt is everyone enjoyed some smooth racing during the Kenda Cup last weekend. Throughout the downtime at the Park this week, construction is in full swing.

Our Trail Crew continues in "Divide & Conquer" mode this week. While half the team returns to the core of the Park, half hangs in the Base Area to bring back our Pump Tracks, Skill Builder Parks and Pro-Lines after a year-long absence. With the Park closed midweek, our Crew has to take advantage of the lack of traffic and get on the well ridden, core trails to patch berms and provide the smoothest product possible. These boys have broad shoulders, though. The remainder of
