A season pass or lift ticket to access any terrain, even if your skill level does not require use of chairlifts.
Big Bear Mountain Resort does not automatically include a Lift Ticket with every Lesson because there are guests taking a lesson that may already have a Season Pass, Military vouchers, etc.
Children in the same age range, ability level, and equipment type may be enrolled in the same group lesson, subject to availability. No exceptions. If you would like your children to be enrolled in the same class but do not meet these requirements, please consider booking a private lesson.
Children (ages 5-12) enrolled in lessons must wear a helmet. Helmets are not required for adults, (ages 13+) enrolled in lessons, but are highly recommended.
Group lessons are available for Explorers (ages 5-7), Adventurers (ages 8-12), and adults (ages 13+). Private lessons are available for ages 4+, provided they know how to use the restroom on their own and no longer require diapers.
Group lesson sizes vary, depending on demand and availability. Adult group lessons typically do not exceed 10 students. Subject to change based on staffing and holiday peak dates. Child group lessons are typically smaller.
To ensure lesson type and instructor availability, we highly recommend booking lessons in advance. Guests may purchase lessons upon arrival, but risk having their lesson type or time slot being sold out.

All lesson purchases made online are required to be made at least 2 days in advance for processing.
We recommend arriving at Bear Mountain or Snow Summit at least 1.5 hours (90 minutes) prior to your scheduled lesson time to ensure you have enough time to check-in, pick up your lift tickets and/or rental equipment, gear up, and walk to the designated meeting location. Please note that the recommended arrival time does not include parking and shuttling to the resort.

Check In
We will conduct a brief on-site assessment and place you in the appropriate group class based on your age, ability, and type of equipment (ski vs snowboard).

BEGINNER: If you have never skied/snowboarded before, never been on a chairlift, or cannot stop or turn.

INTERMEDIATE: If you can turn, stop, ride the chairlift, and navigate most beginner and low intermediate runs.

ADVANCED:
If you are confident skiing/snowboarding on all terrain, including steep and challenging features.
YES - Big Bear Mountain Resort offers multiple lesson options for kids, ages 5-12.

Group Lessons
Kids group lessons are available for Explorers (5-7 years old) and Adventurers (8-12 years old). Lesson categories and curriculum are based on your age, ability and type of equipment (ski vs snowboard).

Private Lessons
Children must be at least 4 years old and potty trained to be enrolled in a private lesson (no diapers). No more than 2 (two) 4 year olds in a private lesson.
Weather conditions and temperatures can vary at higher altitudes, therefore we recommend wearing multiple layers, including a moisture-wicking base layer, an insulating middle layer, and water-resistant outer layer to protect you from the elements.

Need pants for the day? BBMR offers snow pant rentals for $20/day on a first come, first serve basis. BBMR does not offer any other clothing rentals, but Big Bear Sports does carry a wide selection of outerwear, accessories, and branded apparel. We recommend guests wearing sunscreen, snow goggles or any form of protected eyewear, gloves/mitten, and socks.

NOTE: Children ages 12 and under are required to wear a helmet, snow goggles, and gloves/mittens.
Using Gift Cards, ACV, and other Forms of Payment
Gift Cards, Pass Holder Discounts, Pass Cash, and Activity Change Vouchers cannot be applied online at this time. These forms of payments can only be used in-person or by calling 844.GO2.BEAR. Credit card tokenization is the process of de-identifying sensitive cardholder data by converting it to a string of randomly generated numbers called a "token." Similar to encryption, tokenization obfuscates the original data to render it unreadable in the event of a data breach or other exposure. If you are having issues with your card, please call your bank directly.
Refund & Cancellation Policy
Guests may change or cancel lift ticket, lesson, rental, or activity reservations up to 3 full days prior to the scheduled date for a full refund. Changes or cancellations made within 3 days, up until the day prior to the scheduled date, will result in an Activity Change Voucher being issued for the full value of the activity cost (no fee). Same-day changes, cancellations, or failure to show up to your activity will result in a full forfeit of your payment. Once you make a purchase, if those funds are removed from Big Bear Mountain Resort's account and given back to you, your purchased tickets will become void and irredeemable for entry. Fraudulent attempts to force a bank or credit card chargeback by claiming you didn’t make the ticket purchase or can’t identify the purchase on your bank statement will result in being barred from attending future events hosted by Big Bear Mountain Resort. Promotional sales or events including but not limited to Glow Golf and Above the Boom, do not qualify for refunds. All sales are final.
Risk Warning
Skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, and other outdoor activities have inherent risks that may result in property damage, personal injury, or death. GUESTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY AND ASSUME ALL INHERENT RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH PARTICIPATING IN OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES. All guests must follow the Big Bear Mountain Resort rules of conduct and NSAA Responsibility Code. Visit the Safety page for complete details. Lift tickets and season passes may be suspended or revoked without refund at any time for failure to comply with resort rules, misconduct, nuisance, reckless behavior, or fraudulent use. Anyone attempting to use a lift ticket or season pass fraudulently or in a manner for which it is not intended is subject to prosecution under California Penal Code 537(b). Facilities under permit from the U.S. Forest Service.
Policy on Lift Ticket Purchases & Age Verification
Anyone found purchasing child tickets for personal use as adult tickets will be deemed engaging in fraudulent activity. Big Bear Mountain Resort is committed to rigorously enforcing the utilization of tickets in accordance with their designated age categories. Any patrons discovered using tickets intended for a different age category will be promptly escorted from the resort and may incur additional consequences, potentially including a ban from future visits to Big Bear Mountain Resort.
Avoid Fraud
Lift tickets are non-transferable and are not for resale. Violators may be prosecuted under California Penal Code 537 PC. To ensure the safety of our guests and employees, all ski, snowboard, and bike lessons at Big Bear Mountain Resort must be booked with a certified, BBMR instructor. Anyone found offering/selling or purchasing a 3rd party/non-BBMR lesson at BBMR will forfeit their resort access, including lift privileges, and be subject to prosecution, pursuant to California Penal Code 537 PC.
