As Southern California’s home for year-round outdoor adventure, Big Bear Mountain Resort (BBMR) is an alpine oasis for mountain bikers, hikers, and golfers of all ages in the summer.

Face coverings are required indoors for guests that have not been fully vaccinated. Review the updated guidelines below for the summer 2021 operating season.

All summer products/services, including Bike Park and Sky Chair lift tickets, Bike Park season passes, MTB lessons, bike rentals, and Basecamp activities will be available for purchase at the main tickets windows in the Snow Summit base area day-of or in advance with designated waiting areas marked to ensure guests maintain proper physical distancing during the check-in process.

This summer, Big Bear Mountain Resort offers direct-to-lift access for Scenic Sky Chair tickets purchased in advance to reduce guest wait times and congestion at the Snow Summit ticket windows. All direct-to-lift tickets have been assigned individual barcodes that are non-transferable and may not be duplicated. After you purchase, grab your confirmation number and insert it on the reservations page either on the Reservations page or on the BBMR Mobile App.

Snow Summit chairlift access is limited to guests with a valid:
  • Bike Park or Sky Chair lift ticket
  • 2021 Summit Bike Park season pass
  • Winter 21/22 BBMR or Ikon season pass
  • Bear Mountain Golf Course season pass
Lift tickets and season passes may be purchased online, at the ticket windows, or by calling 844.GO2.BEAR. To expedite the check-in and payment process, we recommend purchasing a 2021 Bike Park season pass to get direct-to-lift access. Quad Pack lift tickets are currently unavailable.

NOTE: Any reservation cancellations or changes must be made by phone or by filling out a Refund Request Form. We kindly ask for your patience as we will be operating with a limited Guest Services staff. Bike Park season passes are non-refundable and the Activity Change & Cancellation Policy does not apply.

CHAIRLIFT SANITIZING PROCEDURES

All chairlifts scheduled to operate will be cleaned each morning prior to opening to the public.

CHAIRLIFT GUIDELINES

  • Line mazes configured to allow physical distancing
  • Line signage reminding guests to maintain physical distance (6 feet)
  • Separate loading lines for foot traffic and mountain bikers
  • Limit, two (2) individuals per carrier, unless there is a request from a larger group
  • Guest-facing employees must wear face coverings unless stationed behind protective glass (ex. lift control office)
  • Guests will load their own bikes
  • Staff will unload bikes
  • Sanitizing stations available at the top and bottom of each lift
  • Bike washing stations and tool benches available within close proximity to sanitizer stations or restrooms for hand washing

LOADING

To accommodate physical distancing guidelines, chairlift capacity will be limited to two (2) guests per carrier with guests responsible for loading their own bikes onto the chairlifts.

HIKING TRAILS

Snow Summit has two dedicated on-site hiking trails – Mountain Top Loop (1 mi.) and Bobsled Trail (2 mi.) – that offer a true alpine setting, with Ponderosa pines, mountaintop vistas, and access to over 60 miles of off-site trails throughout the Big Bear Valley. Hiking is free and open for public use in the summer.

2021 SUMMIT BIKE PARK PASSES

All Summit Bike Park season pass purchases are non-refundable and do not include a minimum season duration guarantee. In the event Big Bear Mountain Resort is ordered by state/local government agencies to close for at least 7 consecutive days or 21 total days between June 11, 2021 - October 6, 2021 for COVID-related concerns, 2021 Bike Park passholders will receive a resort credit. Resort credit criteria will be determined at the time of closure. 2021 passholders who use their season pass 4 times or more will not receive a resort credit.

*BBMR rental shops do not offer goggles, gloves, or any clothing articles. Additional items, including outerwear, hardgoods, and accessories, are available for purchase Big Bear Sports, located in the Snow Summit base areas.

LESSONS


Group and private lessons are available at Summit Bike Park for guests, ages 5 & up.

Mountain bike lessons may be reserved by calling 844.GO2.BEAR or in-person at the Snow Summit ticket windows, subject to availability. Lessons may not be booked online. All guests must check in at the ticket windows upon arrival.

  • Adult group lessons typically do not exceed 5 students; child group lessons are typically smaller
    • TIP: Guests looking for smaller class sizes than what is offered for a group lesson may book a private lesson instead
  • Face masks and social distancing are encouraged, but not required, during lessons
  • Failure to comply with posted guidelines and/or staff instructions will result in forfeiture of lesson reservation and may include loss of lift privileges and/or removal from the resort
  • To comply with current COVID-19 guidelines, guests who fail to attend their scheduled lesson time or arrive late will not be rescheduled
  • All guests participating in on-hill activities must complete a liability waiver prior to completing their transaction
    • Guests are encouraged to complete a liability waiver online to expedite the check in process

  • Grizzly Ridge Tube Park: all tubes sanitized after each use with increased intervals between guests
  • Scenic Sky Chair: two (2) individuals per carrier, unless there is a request from a larger group
  • Summit Mining Co.: chlorine added to water trough to sterilize mining trays during use and designated mining zones for physical distancing
  • Zip line and Quick Jump: all helmets sanitized after every use

LOCKER ROOM

Day lockers will be available for rent at Snow Summit with enhanced sanitizing protocols, subject to change. Locker rentals may be made using digital QR codes posted on each locker in lieu of a shared public kiosk.

TUNING & REPAIR SERVICES

Bike repair services – including brake bleeds, tuning derailleurs, cable adjustments, and tire replacements – will be available at the Snow Summit Adventure Academy during operating hours on a first come, first served basis. All bikes must undergo a free sanitizing wash before being serviced.

Contact patrol for any safety related issues. If there is an individual with an on-hill emergency and you do not have access to a phone, advise a lift operator or any uniformed employee of the nature and location of the incident and a description of and injured person(s).

If you sustain a minor injury that requires medical attention, visit the Patrol office in the Snow Summit base area.

  • Monitor trail capacities and encourage physical distancing of guests on the hill and the base area

Parking is available in all BBMR lots for free on a first come, first served basis. Please note that tailgating and overnight parking is not permitted at any BBMR parking lot.

LIFT TICKET CHANGE OR REFUND


Guests that would like to cancel an upcoming reservation may do so using the Refund Request Form. Guests that would like to make a change to an existing reservation should call 844.GO2.BEAR. Change requests are not applicable to the Refund Request Form. Please note, we may experience high call volumes throughout the season. We appreciate your patience.
  • Cancelations made up to three (3) full days prior to the reservation date are eligible for a full refund.
  • Cancelations made within three (3) days, including the day prior to the reservation date, will receive an Activity Change Voucher for the full value of the reservation (no fee).
  • Same-day reservation changes and cancellations will result in a full forfeit of payment.
We kindly ask that you read our Activity Change Policy below before submitting a Refund Request to be sure your reservation is eligible.

COVID-RELATED CLOSURES

In the event that chairlift operations are suspended or closed due to health/safety concerns, all lift ticket, rental, and lesson reservations will be eligible for a 100% refund with no cancellation fee, up to 24 hours prior to the reservation date. Please call 844.GO2.BEAR for questions regarding upcoming reservations. We may be experiencing high call volumes during this time and appreciate your patience.
