Home to the largest learning area in Southern California, the Adventure Academy offers various types of ski and snowboard lessons to cater to your child's skills.
Whether you're looking for private or group lessons, book your preferred lesson time online or by visiting us in-person at the Adventure Academy.
Should I book my lesson in advance or when I arrive?
Booking in advance is highly recommended since popular instructors and lesson times can fill up fast. Book your lesson online.
Private lessons must be booked at least 1 day in advance and a valid lift ticket is required for all lessons.
When should I arrive for my lesson?
We recommend on arriving at least 1.5 hours prior to your scheduled lesson time to ensure you have enough time to park, check-in, and pick up your lift tickets and/or rental equipment.
What type of lesson should I take?
BBMR offers group and private lessons for ages 4 and up.
BEGINNER: If you have never skied/snowboarded before, never been on a chairlift, or need assistance with turning or stopping.
INTERMEDIATE: If you can comfortably turn, stop, ride the chairlift, and navigate most beginner and low intermediate runs.
ADVANCED/EXPERT: If you are confident skiing/snowboarding on all terrain, including steep and challenging features.
Where do lessons meet?

Kids am – Adventure Academy
Kids pm – Red flag outside Adventure Academy
Adult Group – Red Lesson Flag
Private – Purple Private Flag
What lesson options are available for children?
Children must be at least 4 years old and potty trained – no diapers – to take a lesson at BBMR.
Kids are separated into 3 age groups: 4 years old, 5-7 years old, and 8-12 years old.
Helmets, mitts/gloves, and eye protection (sunglasses or goggles) are required for children ages 4–12.
What type of clothing should I wear?
Weather conditions and temperatures can vary at higher altitudes, therefore we recommend wearing multiple layers, including a moisture-wicking base layer, an insulating middle layer, and water-resistant outer layer to protect you from the elements.
What should I do to avoid altitude sickness?
Higher altitudes may cause some people to experience dizziness, nausea, and general fatigue due to lower barometric pressure and oxygen levels. To avoid these symptoms drink plenty of water before, during, and after your visit to BBMR, limit your caffeine and alcohol intake while at the resort, and pace yourself throughout the day.
The effects of sun exposure are also amplified at higher altitudes, therefore we recommend using a sunscreen with at least 30 SPF on any exposed areas throughout the day.
If you experience any symptoms of altitude sickness, find a shaded area to rest and hydrate. If your condition does not improve, contact the Patrol Department for further assistance and treatment.
