Your Winter Getaway in Southern California
Alpine Good Times Guaranteed
Whether you’re looking for a quick ski weekend where you spend more time on the mountain than you do in transit or you just want to knock out a quick day trip, Big Bear Mountain Resort — comprising Bear Mountain and Snow Summit — is a no-brainer.

Both resorts are a must-see. With tons of park features (more than 200), 12-foot and 18-foot halfpipes, as well as backcountry and canyon terrain, and the largest beginner area in SoCal, Bear Mountain is more youthful, filled with kids and hardcore snowboarders. Snow Summit is more traditional, attracting families and skiers and riders who usually keep their boards and skis on the snow, but still has more than 20 runs and its own terrain park, Westridge.

Beach to Mountains in Less than Two Hours

At just 91 miles from Pasadena, 116 miles from the Santa Monica Pier and 149 miles from San Diego, when the mountains are calling and you must go, it’s easy. And for folks with private planes (side note: baller!), Big Bear Airport, located at 6,752 feet above sea level, is just minutes from the ski areas and town.
