If you're planning on heading up to Big Bear Mountain Resort (BBMR), please be sure to check the road conditions and map your route with our 3 ways up and 3 ways home.
HWY 18 will be completely closed between Snow Valley Mountain Resort and Big Bear Dam, Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. until October 26. We recommend all motorists to take HWY 38 as an alternate route to and from BBMR.
California Department of Transportation District 8 will complete routine maintenance operations to prepare the route for winter months. Some of the operations that will be completed are slope scaling, turnout clearance, drain cleaning, sign repair and replacement, guardrail repair and other related work.
With another Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails in the rearview, the Trail Crew is making sure all trails are in top condition and ready to ride this weekend. The forecast looks stellar, with clear skies and moderate temps, so grab some friends and head for the hill.
The Crew’s main focus this week has been on Miracle Mile – our traditional DH run – which can get a little chunky and chattery during a long, dry summer of racing and riding. If you haven't rolled the Mile recently, hit it up this weekend for a ride that's equal parts exacting and exciting.
The Crew was also able to revisit all of the core trails early in the week, leaving the rest of the week to dial in the base area.
Speaking of Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails, things went off in a big way last weekend over at Bear Mountain. Take a minute to check out the highlights in this week's video clip.
We'll see you on the dirt.
Fall continues to take hold in the mountains, with cooler temps and crisp autumn days in the forecast this weekend. With the Bike Park back to weekend-only (Fri.-Sun.) operations our Trail Crew has had plenty of time to make sure all the trails are in top condition. Come get some laps in before winter crashes the party.
Speaking of winter and parties, we’re hosting the largest winter kickoff party known to man – Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails – this Saturday at Bear Mountain. Watch some of the world’s best snowboarders compete on a #BearBuilt rail jam course, check out the vendor village, and enjoy live performances by Tommorrows Bad Seeds, Andrew W.K., DJ Snoopadelic, and Method Man & Redman. You can also score some discounted 2-for-1 lift tickets for the upcoming snow season.
And if you’re a Summit Bike Park passholder, you can get a free lift ticket from our sister Park in Mammoth this weekend as part of their summer closing festivities. Just show your 2017 Summit season pass at the Mammoth ticket windows and ride all day for free.
Whether you’re riding or rocking, it’s going to be an action-packed weekend. We’ll see you on the dirt.
If you’re heading to the Park this weekend, get ready for sunny skies and great riding conditions with temps in the upper 60s and the trails prepped to perfection. Our Trail Crew has been working like there’s no tomorrow, raking and sweeping Party Wave and Westridge down to the pebbles and pinecones, so grab your gear and get ready to ride.
If you’re coming up next weekend, be sure to check out the largest winter kickoff party known to man – Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails – at Bear Mountain on Sept. 23. Come watch some of the world’s best snowboarders compete on a #BearBuilt rail jam course, score some awesome swag in the vendor village, and enjoy live performances by Tommorrows Bad Seeds, Andrew W.K., DJ Snoopadelic, and Method Man & Redman. You can also get ready for winter by grabbing some BUY ONE GET ONE FREE for the upcoming snow season.
Summit Bike Park passholders can also snag a free lift ticket for our sister Park in Mammoth next weekend as part of their closing weekend celebration, Sept. 23-24. To claim your ticket, just present your 2017 Summit season pass to the Mammoth ticket windows next Sunday and ride all day for zero deniro.
There’s still plenty of time to ride and good times to be had. We’ll see you on the dirt.
The switch over to fall operating hours has allowed our Trail Crew to have full access to the Park’s core trails and prep them for your weekend riding. Keep in mind the Summit Bike Park is open for your fall riding Friday through Sunday. Sunday, October 22nd will be our final day of operation this season.
Take advantage of the cooler days to plan a cross country adventure. Our Mountaintop Trailhead has access to 60+ miles of incredible mountain biking and hiking. Whether headed east or west, the Skyline Trail is one of the most popular. Peddling west will bring you to Grandview Point and amazing views of the San Gorgonio and San Bernardino mountains. From there your options are almost endless. A local favorite is to backtrack east, pass the resort and hook up with one of our Adopt-A-Trails like Fall Line or Ferns.

Labor Day usually signals the unofficial end of summer and beginning of fall, and Mother Nature has been happy to oblige with cooler temps and intermittent showers this week.
Our Trail Crew has been getting ready for the holiday weekend by giving the Bike Park a thorough once-over to make sure all the trails are in top shape and ready to ride.
If you're coming up for the weekend and have kids that love the great outdoors, sign them up to compete in the Kids Adventure Games at Bear Mountain, or check out a free screening of Wayne's World at Snow Summit. And remember, Labor Day is your last chance to ride during the week before we switch back to Friday – Sunday operations for the rest of the season.
Summer may be winding down, but we're still having fun on the hill. We'll see you on the dirt.
Grab your gear and get ready for some great weather this weekend. This week’s temperatures and conditions have been among the best of the season, with the days topping out in the 70s and the nights dropping down into the low 50s giving us some nice morning dew and Velcro trails. Take advantage of the conditions and light midweek crowds through Labor Day weekend when the Park transitions back to weekend-only operations, Friday – Sunday, through the end of October.
You can also take advantage of some great deals on our fleet of 2016 and 2017 Trek rental bikes, including the Fuel EX 7, Fuel EX Jr, Lush, Session, and Slash 7 in multiple sizes and configurations. Once you’re comfortable on Small Wonder it's time to check out some more advanced terrain on Chair 1.

With many SoCal schools back in session, now is a great time to hit the hill mid-week and take advantage of the open slopes and short lift lines. We’ll be operating daily through Labor Day weekend before transitioning to weekend-only operations, Friday – Sunday, through the end of October.
Come enjoy the end of summer and welcome fall at the Summit Bike Park.
We'll see you on the dirt.
This week, Turtle Trail gets a touch-up and we're raising the bar for the final Summit Series competition of the season.
While trails like Party Wave and Westridge get the lion’s share of love from riders, you'll have just as much fun with less crowded runs and endless berms on Turtle Trail, which our Trail Crew extended to the top of Chair 1 last season to give riders an intermediate trail option from the top of the hill. This week the Crew gave the trail a complete rebuild, so be sure to check it out.
This Saturday is the last Summit Series of the season, featuring a High Air contest. The rules are simple – whoever clears the tallest height without knocking over the bar wins. Whether competing or spectating, this contest is always a favorite. Riders can register to compete in the base area Saturday morning, with practice from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and the competition starting at 1 p.m.
Hey, you guys! If you’re sticking around for the weekend, join us Saturday night in the Summit base area for a free screening of The Goonies (PG, 114 min.) as part of our Movies in the Meadow series. The show starts at 8 p.m., with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis, concessions available at Bighorn Smokehouse, and a Truffle Shuffle contest following the movie. Winner gets a GoPro 5!
It’s gonna be a high-flying, berm riding, Goonies-never-say-die(ing) weekend.
We'll see you on the dirt.
