Snowmaking guns on the hill blowing snow

Snowmaking continues at Big Bear Mountain Resort this week, with temps ranging from the mid-20s to low 50s and plans to keep the snow guns active as long as conditions permit.

Most of the snow produced so far at Snow Summit and Bear Mountain has been at night (6PM-9AM), but we have been able to keep the guns running today (11/12/2019) to focus on the upper areas of both properties.

At Snow Summit, we are currently making snow near Chair 1 (Miracle Mile), Chair 2 (Ego Trip), and the Bear Bottom Learning Area between chairs 4 and 8. At Bear Mountain, we are making snow near Chair 9 and the Learning Area near Chair 7. Check out the 2018/19 winter trail maps.

    Snowmaking

    Let's get this party started.

Big Bear Mountain Resort annually has the most dependable snow conditions in Southern California thanks to our extensive snowmaking capabilities, which benefit guests by providing more reliable skiing/riding conditions as well as enhancing the snow throughout the season. Learn more about how snowmaking works at Big Bear Mountain Resort.

We have been making snow all night and will be making more over the next couple of days. According to our in-house meteorologist, Ben Brissey, a low-pressure system is moving through the Great Basin, which will bring strong offshore winds and temperatures well below normal, with highs only reaching the mid to upper 40s and overnight lows dropping into the 20s. A few locations may even hit the teens for the first time this season. Temperatures are expected to recover a bit over the weekend before cooling again as the offshore flow strengthens with dry weather through next weekend.
