Ski CA Safety Day | Jan. 23, 2021
LET’S RESPECT NEW OPERATING POLICIES & EACH OTHER
As Southern California’s home for year-round adventure, Big Bear Mountain Resort (BBMR) is committed to providing a fun and safe environment for guests to enjoy the outdoors responsibly.
Responsible recreation starts with respect – for the environment, wildlife, resort staff, and fellow skiers and snowboarders. This year, due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, it also means respecting new policies and guidelines
that have been put in place to allow BBMR to continue operating while accounting for the wellbeing of our guests, employees, and community.
Respect is an important part of everything we do at BBMR, and it’s also the theme for this year’s Ski California Safety Day
. The annual event, presented by Ski California, is an opportunity for participating resorts to educate guests about proper safety on and off the slopes.
While participating in snow sports does involve inherent risks, guests can reduce their risk by staying informed on industry safety guidelines, observing all posted instructions, following resort staff instructions, and practicing proper techniques while skiing or snowboarding.
Regardless of ability, guests should always be mindful of the following:
Properly loading/unloading chairlifts
Identifying physical obstructions, obstacles, and restrictive barriers/signs
Maintaining proper distance from others while skiing/riding
Controlling downhill speed and equipment at all times
Knowing your limits and riding terrain within your abilities
