BBMR annually has the most dependable snow conditions in Southern California thanks to our extensive snowmaking capabilities, which benefit guests by providing more reliable skiing/riding conditions as well as enhancing the snow throughout the season.

Big Bear Mountain Resort (BBMR) kicked off the 2019/20 ski and snowboard season with 54” of natural snowfall, making it the snowiest November in resort history. The new November mark eclipses the previous record of 38” set in 1964 and is roughly half of BBMR’s average winter snowfall of 100-110”.

The first snowfall of the season arrived Nov. 20, with 4-6” of freshies at Bear Mountain and Snow Summit, followed by a week of prime snowmaking conditions at both mountains. The flakes really started flying on Thanksgiving day, with a 2-day record 48” of snowfall Nov. 28-29 before giving way to clear skies and bluebird conditions for the weekend.

As we head into December, there’s more snow in the forecast, so remember to carry tire chains and always check snow and road conditions before heading to the mountains.
