Big Bear Village Fall

Southern California is known for its sun-splashed beaches and palm trees, but fall is in full effect at Big Bear Mountain Resort (BBMR), with clear skies, cooler temps, and colorful leaves to give guests a true alpine autumn experience.

Here are some ways to enjoy all that autumn has to offer during your next visit to Big Bear Mountain Resort.

Take in panoramic views of the Big Bear Valley while soaring through the San Bernardino National Forest on a mile-long ascent to the top of Snow Summit (elev. 8,200 feet).

Sightseers of all ages are welcome and kids 12 and under ride free when accompanied by a paying adult. Purchase your Scenic Sky Chair tickets online at least 72 hours in advance to save 20%*.

Save even more by bundling a Scenic Sky Chair or Bike Park lift ticket with lunch at the Skyline Taphouse to experience Big Bear’s only mountaintop dining, featuring a made-to-order Mediterranean menu, outdoor BBQ, full bar, and amazing vistas.

*Must purchase tickets at least 72 hours in advance. Discount applies to adult Sky Chair tickets. Kids 12 & under ride free with paying adult, limit two per adult. Snow Summit is currently open on weekends only (Friday-Sunday), through Oct. 20.

Snow Summit is home to Southern California’s premier lift-served, gravity fed bike park, with trails and terrain for riders of all ages and ability levels, plus over 60 miles of cross-country trails directly accessible from the resort.

As the leaves begin to change, remember that last chair is Oct. 20, so grab some pumpkin spice goodness from Ironwood Coffee, located in the base area, and get up here for your last laps of the season.

Snow Summit also has a pair of hiking trails for guests to experience all the amazing fall foliage first hand.

The all-new Bobsled Hiking Trail, a 2-mile footpath built by our Trail Crew in conjunction with the U.S. Forest Service, traverses the forest canopy under Chair 1, with moderate incline/decline and panoramic views of the Big Bear Valley throughout the journey.

Hikers looking for a less rigorous route can take the Scenic Sky Chair* to the top of the mountain and explore the aptly named Mountain Top Loop trail on a 1-mile excursion that starts and ends at Skyline Taphouse Although not quite as aggressive as the Bobsled Trail, the trail is still considered an intermediate trail and proper aggressive tread footwear is strongly recommended.

*Scenic Sky Chair ticket required. Purchase at least 72 hours in advance to save 20%. Kids 12 and under ride free with paying adult, limit 2 per adult.

Cooler temps and crisp, sunny days are perfect for golfing. Make time for nine at Bear Mountain Golf Course and enjoy the benefits of playing at 7,000 feet with the San Bernardino Mountains as your backdrop.
