Get Ready for a Brand New Bear Mountain
$5M BASE AREA RENOVATION IS UNDERWAY
As the 2019/20 winter season approaches, some much-needed renovations are underway at Bear Mountain. The renovation project, which began this summer and is scheduled to be completed in mid-December, will feature $5 million in base area upgrades designed to give Bear Mountain a fresh, new look that will complement the Bear Mountain Adventure Academy for kids and families that opened last year to rave reviews.
This year’s improvements include repainting all buildings in the base area, renovating the West Plaza entry area, upgrading ADA access points, and expanding the sun deck to accommodate more guests and events.
PHASE 1 | SUMMER 2019
West Plaza Entry
As the primary entrance/exit point for most guests, the West Plaza entry area is one of the busiest parts of the Bear Mountain base area. To improve guest flow in this high traffic zone the Repair Shop was relocated allowing the stairs leading to the lifts and sun deck to be expanded with improved ADA access ramps. Additional lighting, as well as new pavers and awnings, will also be installed giving guests better sight lines and easier access to the slopes.
Sun Deck Expansion
Bear Mountain's famous sun deck is the perfect place to prep for first chair, check out the action in The Scene, or relive your day on the slopes with friends and favorite beverage. Following the Bear Mountain mantra of “go big or go home”, the deck will be expanded from 13,000 square feet to over 25,000 square feet, giving guests even more opportunity to enjoy one of the industry’s best après scenes. The new deck will span over 350 feet, making it larger than a football field, with custom-built bench seating along the entire slope edge.
New Fire Pits & Furniture
The sun deck expansion will also feature 3 new fire pits and $250,000 of new furniture – approximately 245 pieces – including couches, so guests can grab a cup of Huski hot chocolate and get cozy!
Upgraded Dining Location
There will also be an upgraded dining location at the west end of the sun deck, giving guests even more options and reducing wait times so there’s more time to enjoy the slopes.
In addition to improved ramp access in the West Plaza area, new accessibility paths will also be built to improve ADA guests’ access to all areas of Bear Mountain.
COMING SOON - PHASE 2 | SUMMER 2020
In summer 2020, we will begin phase 2 of Bear Mountain’s renovation, including new ticket windows and a fully paved path from the base area buildings to the Bear Mountain Adventure Academy. Stay tuned!
