Saturday, Sept. 28 | Snow Summit | 880 Summit Blvd.

Established in 2003, Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails (HDHR) – aka “the largest winter kickoff party known to man” – is one of the snowboarding industry’s biggest events, featuring some of the world’s best riders competing in a one-of-a-kind rail jam contest + live music and vendor activations.

Since its inception, HDHR has been hosted at Bear Mountain, but due to ongoing construction in the base area this year we’re moving the fun to Snow Summit. Ticket windows, venue gates, and the vendor village will all open at 9AM with rail jam practice scheduled for 1PM and finals at 3:15PM, subject to change. The Summit Bike Park and Basecamp activities (climbing wall, zip line, etc.) will also be open, so come take some laps, then get ready to party.

All guests attending HDHR must purchase tickets prior to entering the event venue. Tickets are available at, 844.GO2.BEAR, or the Snow Summit ticket windows during operating hours, with discounts available for 19/20 Ikon and BBMR winter passholders and active military personnel. Ticket prices go up on Sept. 25, so get yours today.

NOTE: Separate tickets are required for all base area (climbing wall, zip line, tubing, Euro Bungee, etc.) and on-hill activities (Bike Park, Scenic Sky Chair). Purchase online.

It's not a party without music, so HDHR is partnering with Punk in Drublic Fest this year to bring some of your favorite bands to the mountains. Get ready for the upcoming winter season with live performances by NOFX, The Vandals, and The Bronx.

HDHR features some of the world’s best riders competing on a one-of-a-kind rail jam course designed and built by Big Bear Mountain Resort's renowned park staff. Participation in the rail jam competition is by invite only.

This year’s rail jam course will have 11 jibs, with two different jib pads.

Starting at the top from rider’s right will feature a down flat down rail, a down bar with middle gap separated by a stair case, a 6’ down bar with a jam up the front, a double slide with variable length rails, and a brand new, never-been-done-before 6’ corrugated down bar that will also be separated by a stair case. The second pad will have a full plaza set up with close-in and close-outs. From right to left, the layout includes half of the El Toro stair set with a gap to down bar and a close-out down bar, in a cross fall line deck rail with another deck rail gap to down bar in the middle of the close-in, and the other half of the El Toro stair set with a gap off down bar and another close out down bar on the left side of pad.
