Ring in the New Year at Snow Summit
Alright, stop whatcha doin’, ‘cause legendary hip-hop artists Digital Underground are scheduled to perform at the 54th annual Torchlight Parade & New Year's Eve Party at Snow Summit on Monday, Dec. 31. The event is FREE to attend and open to all ages with the Torchlight Parade kicking things off at 7:45PM* and plenty of family-friendly activities and entertainment, including bounce houses, face painters, and stilt walkers to follow. Snow Summit and Bear Mountain will be open during regular operating hours (9AM – 4PM) on Dec. 31, so come take some turns during the day, then get ready to party the night away.
Founded by Greg “Shock G” Jacobs and Ronald “Money B” Brooks in Oakland, Calif., Digital Underground came to prominence in the 90s with hits like "The Humpty Dance", “Doowutchyalike”, “Freaks of the Industry”, and “Kiss You Back” featuring samples from various 1970s funk bands and energetic, upbeat stage performances. The group also helped launch the career of Tupac Shakur and was featured in the 1991 film “Nothing But Trouble” starring Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, John Candy, and Demi Moore.
In addition to the live music and family-friendly activities, there will be multiple dining venues open in the Snow Summit base area during the parade and party, so come eat, drink, and be merry as we ring in 2019. In the meantime, here’s a little flashback to get you stoked for NYE.
