Air + Style Qualifier | Bear Mountain | Recap | Sat., Jan. 6, 2018
GARDNER, HAUST WIN FIRST-EVER A+S QUALIFIER AT BEAR MOUNTAIN
Thanks to everyone who made it out for the first-ever Air + Style qualifier at Bear Mountain last weekend. With A+S changing its competition format from Big Air to Streetstyle this year, The Scene was the perfect place for 50 riders to take on a #BearBuilt course with an assortment of technical features, including handrails, kink rails, closeouts, and combo features.
After 90 minutes of intense rail riding, Drayden Gardner
and Nate Haust
were named co-winners of the Overall and Best Trick categories, meaning both riders will compete at this year’s Air + Style LA festival (March 3-4 at Expo Park) and split the $1,500 prize purse.
Two-time Olympic gold medalist Shaun White
was also on-hand to present Drayden and Nate with their awards and spent time signing autographs and taking photos with fans before blink-182’s Travis Barker
closed things out with a free concert for the fans.
Shout outs to the event judges, Chris Bradshaw and Dave Downing, announcers Eddie Wall and John Castro, and the A+S team for their help.
LET’S KEEP THE PARTY GOING
Come celebrate Bear Mountain’s 75th anniversary on Saturday, Jan. 20, a FREE concert by DJ Snoopadelic (a.k.a. BIG SNOOP DOGG), tons of great giveaways, and more. Get the full scoop.
