Producing top athletes is important, but developing good people and people skills is equally important to us; we teach our athletes the life skills required to participate in society. Education, courage, discipline, accountability, integrity and teamwork are all blended into the Team experience. Success on and off the hill is measured by achievements, not just results.

Our coaching staff is certified through USSA and USASA; they have the knowledge and experience to help any young rider set and reach their goals. The coaches ask our athletes to work hard towards their goals, but make sure there is always time for fun. We want our athletes to enjoy what they are doing so that they want to return tomorrow, next week, and next year. We strive to develop a lifelong passion for skiing and snowboarding and the mountains.

Mini Shredders (6-8 yrs)

This team is for young riders who are working to develop the  FUNdamentals of skiing and snowboarding. Their training includes disciplines in halfpipe, slopestyle, boardercross, slalom, giant slalom and rails. Approximately 50% of training is spent freeriding and freeskiing around the mountain looking for natural features and steeps, and riding the groomed runs. Junior Team (13 yrs & Up)

Junior Team (13 yrs & Up)

The Junior Team program is for athletes who want to take their snowboarding to the next level. This program is broken into groups based on skill level and competition aspirations. Riders will be assessed before the training starts and during the season so they are placed in the appropriate group. Athletes may move up in the group depending on their performance and goals. Refining snowboarding skills, learning complex tricks and developing routines for competition will be the goal of most riders in this program.

Training

This group uses video analysis and trains in halfpipe, slopestyle, boardercross, slalom and giant slalom. The Junior Team’s competition focus is mainly the local USASA So.Cal. Series at Big Bear Mountain Resort. Competing in this series can qualify athletes for the USASA National Championships at the end of the season. Freeriding is still a big part of this group as it is a way of keeping the basic fundamental skills solid.

Ability Level

The athlete should be able to link smooth consistent turns from the top of Chair 5 down Central Park (blue runs) with a solid basic stance without stopping. They must also be able to ride the groomed runs off Chair 9 comfortably and should be attempting fakie turns on flatter terrain. Schedule

The Junior Team will begin training in November (conditions permitting) and finish at the end of April.  They will ride from 9AM–3PM weekends and holidays.
